Jade Helliwell follows the successful release of Woman I Am with another girl-power anthem from her forthcoming EP.
Lead Me On is once more an upbeat track from a UK country powerhouse, written to give power back to anyone who is being strung along. It’s about those situations where someone promises the world, yet doesn’t deliver, and the regaining of control – a theme which provides the main narrative of the upcoming EP.
An artist by trade, Jade is of course first and foremost a woman, striving through the same difficulties, curveballs and anticipations that we all feel, and it is this which makes her music so authentic. She is putting into words and music the everyday feelings we have, especially women, and celebrating these. Owning them.
Written solely by Jade herself, Lead Me On very much gives the reins back to the person being led on, giving them the determination and resilience to rise to the challenge and fight back.
“It’s about knowing that’s taking place but playing them at their own game and allowing them to lead you on until you yourself find something else worth chasing after. It’s about taking that control back and dealing with a difficult situation with strength and resilience. I hope the listener will feel like they want to dance and sing along. It’s a strong song with positive vibes!”
The past 12 months have been a whirlwind for Jade with a music video collaboration with new start-up VIKTRS, an endorsement with Vintage Guitars and performances at Millport Country Music Festival and The Long Road, meaning she has now played at all of the UK country music festivals. Her music has received consistent support from CountryLine Radio (formerly Chris Country), Absolute Radio Country (formerly Country Hits) and BBC
Introducing West Yorkshire. In addition, Jade has been featured by Spotify on their New Music Nashville, Wild Country and Very Nearly Nashville playlists – a notable feat for a UK country artist. Jade has recently completed supporting tours with US artists Priscilla Block and Tenille Arts, and is heading for her own UK headlining tour beginning in October.
Lead Me On was again recorded and produced by Nashville based Matt Geroux. A staff producer at BMG, Geroux produced previous releases including Smoke and Woman I Am, perfectly capturing the Nashville pop-country sound that mirrors Jade’s vision and artistic direction. Vocals for the track were recorded in London at Platoon Studios, alongside vocal producer Ramera Abraham. Abraham is herself a staff producer at Platoon and has previously worked alongside mega-hit vocal artists including Little Mix and Adele.
Lead Me On is another empowering hit from one of the UK’s top country artists, shining a light on the talent and professionalism contained in this rapidly growing genre.
