Audra McLaughlin Releases New Single ‘(Can’t Buy) Fun Like This’
We’re delighted to share the infectious summery new single from Audra McLaughlin as our Country Release Friday pick this week with MAM Roots. (Can’t Buy) Fun Like This is available now on all digital platforms and an exclusive live performance will be available to watch via @mam_roots IGTV from 8pm today.
In contrast to her previous single, the beautifully brooding Drinking with Lonely also co-written with Jimmy Mattingly and Johnny Garcia, (Can’t Buy) Fun Like This is an up-beat summer song about kicking back and having good times with friends. It was during a weekly Skype writing session with the guys during the pandemic that Mattingly talked about the last time he was on the road and touring with Garth and said he remembers saying “Man! You just can’t buy fun like this”. That’s where the idea of the song ‘(Can’t Buy) Fun Like This’ came from.
Talking about (Can’t Buy) Fun Like This Audra explains, “Life isn’t about expensive things… it’s about making memories, sharing laughter, and having fun with friends and family, which is priceless!! There will always be those who have and have not…but I’m here to tell you, the best things in life are FREE!”
Singer-Songwriter Audra McLaughlin grew to national fame in the USA as a member of Team Blake on season 6 of NBC’s The Voice where she reached the live shows and finished in the Top 6 Artists.
“Audra is one of my all-time favorite Country Singers” – Blake Shelton
Following her time on the show and after touring with the NASCAR band for two years, the Pennsylvania native moved to Nashville after needing vocal surgery and rehabilitation stemming from a cyst on her vocal chord. During her recovery process, she began working with leading vocal coach Kati Hendricks, who would later connect her with industry veteran Jimmy Mattingly in 2019. Audra inked a co-publishing deal with Jimmy Mattingly and Johnny Garcia. Both of whom worked with Audra on this latest single – co-writing, producing and also featuring as musicians.
“I moved to Nashville on a whim…I never thought that I would meet some of the most talented musicians in the music industry. I have been such a huge fan of Trisha Yearwood and Garth Brooks for as long as I can remember. I never thought in a million years that their right-hand men would take a chance on me. I feel so blessed that they believed in me enough to work with me. I thank my parents for believing in me so much to encourage me to move to Nashville and follow my dreams.” -Audra McLaughlin
Producer, Songwriter, Publisher, and guitar player Johnny Garcia has been playing on stage with Garth Brooks since 2000 and for Trisha Yearwood since 1991 (he also serves as Trisha’s music director). Johnny owns ‘Busy At Play Publishing’ on Music Row with a long list of publishing credits to his name. Producer, Songwriter, and award-winning fiddle player, Jimmy Mattingly, is also a touring and recording fiddler for some of the biggest Country acts of all time, including Dolly Parton, Kenny Rogers, Brooks and Dunn, Garth Brooks, Keith Urban, and Trisha Yearwood.
