Between the Vines Release New Single ‘All In’
Country-rock duo Between the Vines have released their brand new single All In today and we’re delighted to feature it as our Country Release Friday pick this week with MAM Roots. The powerful ballad is available now on all digital platforms and comes ahead of their second album Ain’t Country Enough, which is set for release later this year. An exclusive live performance will be available to watch via @mam_roots IGTV from 8pm today.
Rebecca explains, “All In pretty much wrote itself on a gloomy Sunday afternoon. Although I haven’t written this from personal experience, I’m sure people can relate to the turmoil of being in an unwanted relationship. I like to think it will empower women to stay strong and know their worth!”
Based in Rochdale, Greater Manchester, Rebecca and Kev Whitehead are the driving force behind this four-piece Country/Americana band, who are influenced by the likes of Blackberry Smoke, Bonnie Raitt and Tom Petty amongst others.
Rebecca is a singer/songwriter. She released her debut album, Crazy Love in 2014 with an eclectic mix of Hip Hop/ R&B and Dance, encompassing the unique sound of Electronic and Acoustic mix. Her passion over the last 7 years has been for Country music, especially Country Rock. The more she listened and learned, the more she wanted to create and be part of that genre.
Kev has recorded many albums with Lisa Stansfield, including her two releases Seven and Deeper. He has also recorded and performed live with Pete Lockett, The Christians, The Animals, Proud Mary, Yazz and many more. He joined John Lees’ Barclay James Harvest in 1999, and Dare in 2008 and toured most parts of the World with these 2 bands.
Rebecca started to learn to play the guitar and together in 2014, they created Between The Vines, so named for their love of red wine.
Their first album 50 Ways To Beautiful, was released in July 2018 and contained a good mix of original country-rock material, this was later followed by two Christmas singles, Diamonds On The Pathways and Never Known A Better Time Of Year.
In 2019, Between The Vines were short-listed through a Facebook vote and went on to win first prize in the ‘Feel Good – Battle of the Bands’ competition. This resulted in them taking the main stage at Rochdale’s Feel Good Festival that summer, supporting acts including The Coral and The Hoosiers.
More recently they have supported artists Hannah Aldridge, Amy LaVere and Devon Worley from the USA at gigs in Manchester and have also performed at Nashville Sessions in York.
Fronted by Rebecca’s raw rocking lead vocals, who also plays acoustic guitar, Between The Vines play original Southern Rock style songs. Along with Kev on drums, the line-up is perfectly completed by brothers Dave and Norman Higginson on guitar and bass.
At the start of 2020, Between The Vines released their single ‘Driftwood’, which was recorded at Gracieland Studio in Rochdale. The song was produced by Stephen Boyce Buckley and features Sarah Jory on Pedal Steel Guitar.
There were also plans this year for the band to perform on stage at both FSA Festival and Cambridge Rock Festival; however, these have been postponed for obvious reasons until 2022.
Between The Vines will be releasing their second album Ain’t Country Enough later this year including their last single Driftwood and their newest release All In.
