Countrified Monthly - June 2021 - Joe Martin

Countrified Monthly – June 2021

By Laura Klonowski (Founder, Music & Tour News)

After such a fantastic May featuring an array of incredible releases from wonderful artists around the world, June had a lot to live up to and thankfully not only did it live up to May’s standards it actually surpassed it.

We have been treated to some fantastic new music with some brilliant highlights from the likes of Joe Martin, Payton Howie, and Hayden Joseph. And I have to say that this past month has been truly stellar for Jimmie Allen who not only teamed up with Noah Schnacky on ‘Don’t You

Wanna Know’, but also shared his phenomenal album ‘Bettie James Gold Edition’ which is one of the very best records of the year in my opinion.

Another major highlight for me was the remarkable ‘What A Song Can Do (Chapter One)’ EP from Lady A. Nobody does harmony driven ballads quite like them and it was so brilliant to see them returning to their sonic roots on this project – I cannot wait until they are back in the UK performing live.

I have also been enjoying singles from the likes of Devon Beck, Olivia Lane, Halle Kearns and particularly The Wandering Hearts who shone on the truly spellbinding ‘On Our Way’. Their new album is shaping up to be something really special.

Twinnie has also had another standout 4 weeks with her YouTube series ‘Twinnie Tunes Tuesday’s’ continuing to showcase her effortless vocal ability whilst her work with I Know A Woman is so inspiring and something the industry desperately needs.

Another big moment in June came from one of my new favourites Mickey Guyton who formally announced that her debut LP will be titled ‘Remember Her Name’ and will be out later this year. I am so excited for this project. Mickey is such a gifted artist and I cannot wait to hear her heart.

There have been so many standout moments this past month and I can’t not mention the likes of Zoee, Parker Graye, Stephanie Ryann, April Jai, Tenille Townes, and Brittney Spencer who have all shown that they are capable of becoming the genre’s next breakout star.

Laura Evans is another talent who has released yet another fantastic single this past month with ‘Good At Getting Over You’ shining a light on her truly sublime vocal tone, and epic songwriting skill.

June was a super fun month with some outstanding offerings from so many amazing artists and I’m hoping that restrictions here will finally ease enough so that I am able to start seeing my favourites on stage again. It’s been a long time without live music and I am so ready to return to the front row and cheer on the many amazing performers we have in country music.
