Máiréad Releases Empowering New Single ‘Belong To Me’
Máiréad is empowering listeners to recognise what has been standing in their way, to smash boundaries and realise their worth with her new single Belong To Me and it’s as our Country Release Friday pick with MAM Roots. Co-written virtually with UK Country Artist Jess Tristan earlier this year, Belong To Me is available on all digital platforms now.
About Belong To Me Máiréad reveals, “Jess Thristan & I wrote this song virtually during a covid lock down. It was the first time we’d met actually! We talked about barriers we’d came across in life and in the music industry. We talked about how we realised what was holding us back and how we’d found the strength to overcome these things and power through. We talked about realising that we are ‘enough’ just as we are and the phrase ‘I belong to me’ was born. We wanted to empower others to feel the same and realise how strong they are, just as they are. We wanted to song to feel strong and fierce and I am so proud of it! I can’t wait to release it into the world…”
Belong to Me was recorded and produced by the amazing Robert Gulston (Producer & one half of Country Duo Holloway Road). Máiréad says “I wanted the track to build & push throughout, just how we do in real life. We keep pushing on. I feel we’ve really achieved this with the track and I’m so proud of it. I can’t want to share it with the world!”.
Máiréad has been described as one of the brightest rising stars on the UK Singer – Songwriter scene. Born and raised in County Tyrone, country music has been in Máiréad’s blood since she was born. With an incredible and unique voice, honed from singing up and down the length of Ireland from the age of 7, the now London based singer has captured the hearts of many loyal fans, earning comparisons to US country stars such as Leann Rimes and Faith Hill.
Máiréad’s past releases, ‘If you loved me once’, ‘Crying on the Dancefloor’ and ‘This Time of Year’ have gained fantastic radio play in England and Northern Ireland including Country Hits UK, Chris Country, Downtown Country and Downtown Radio NI and have amassed over 75,000 streams across streaming platforms to date.
Máiréad modern, country – pop style has attracted the attention of both Spotify and Apple Music Country playlist curators, with her songs appearing on Spotify’s ‘New Music Nashville’ editorial playlist and Apple Music Country’s, ‘New in Country’ playlist alongside some of the big US names.
In November 2020, Máiréad was chosen by ‘The Shire’s’ as their Spotlight artist for their fantastic Apple Music radio show ‘ London to Nashville Radio’ and her track, ‘Crying on the Dancefloor’ was featured as our ‘Country Release Friday‘, additionally receiving rave reviews from industry bloggers such as Music Tour News Blog stating that this, ‘feels like the start of something truly magical’.
Máiréad’ released her last single ‘This Time of Year’, in December 2020 which drew the attention of the Irish World and Downtown Radio, helping the music video gain over 24 thousand views on Facebook in just under one week.
