One Trick Pony Return with New Single ‘Old School’
We’re excited to reveal that this week’s Country Release Friday pick with MAM Roots is One Trick Pony with their brand new single ‘Old School’. Following the success of their debut releases last year, ‘Old School’ is available now to buy or stream on all major platforms. Tune into @mam_roots IGTV from 2pm today for an exclusive video and look out for their music video coming soon.
Written by Michael and Georgia, and produced by Tim Prottey-Jones, the concept of the duo’s latest single started with the beauty of old school love; the picture of an old man sat on a park bench, reading a love letter from his wife. Moments which seem to have sadly disappeared within society today. They wanted to write something that reflected these missing pieces of nostalgia, potentially even acting as a reminder of that old school love, interlinked with the exciting moments of new age love as we know it today.
Talking about the song they mentioned, “Love is one of the most wonderful emotions, and can be shared and spread in the simplest of ways… and more often than not, that’s the ‘Old School’ way!”
One Trick Pony are a Northern-bred, London-based, emerging UK Country Duo composed of Georgia Lennon and Michael Pickering. In December 2020, the duo presented a double-debut release across all major music platforms including Spotify, iTunes and Apple Music, reaching Numbers 6 and 7 in the iTunes Charts and receiving much critical acclaim. Their debut singles; ’You’re That Face’ and ‘Always Home’ are available for download and streaming across all platforms, receiving airplay features on recognised radio stations such as ChrisCountry/Country Line, UK Country Radio, ARC Radio and the British Country Music Association Radio.
The duo’s sound thrives upon close harmony, upbeat rhythms and catchy melodies, taking country and pop musical influences, with recent music reviewers detailing their sound as ‘charming country goodness indeed’ with ‘hugely exciting vocal work’. The excitement surrounding their debut release, from industry figures and fans alike, has provided the momentum to continue releasing original music into 2021 and beyond
