Glasgow-based band OneDay40, one of the early pack of original UK country artists, have confirmed their return with the release of a new single. Formed out of the embers of original country pioneers Evangeline, OneDay40 released the critically acclaimed album “Unfinished Business” in 2007, going on to win the BCMA for “Best Album”. Despite a Nashville record deal, the foursome drifted apart for several years as life got in the way of the music.
Lead songwriters John Naismith and Billy Matthews (after whom the band is named – they are 364 days apart in age) got in touch in 2022 and found that they’d both kept writing. It didn’t take long before the concept for “Finished Business”, a planned 2025 release, was born. John says “we’ve changed the dynamic a bit now – definitely for the better – and George and Andy are much more involved in the creative process. We might not be as fast as we used to be, but we’re enjoying what we’re doing much more!”. Billy added “we’re all in very different places in life now, so the source material for our songs is quite different, but we’ve been really humbled by the warm reception we’ve been receiving – folks have been offering us gigs already!”.
“Lovin’ You (Is the Wrong Thing to Do)” is available on all digital platforms now in both audio and video formats.
