Glasgow-based band OneDay40, who announced last year that they had reformed, have confirmed the release of a third single from their forthcoming “Finished Business” album. “Cowboy Song” will be released to digital platforms on Monday 17th February 2025.
Formed out of the embers of original country pioneers Evangeline, OneDay40 released the critically acclaimed album “Unfinished Business” in 2007, going on to win the BCMA for “Best Album”. Despite a Nashville record deal, the foursome drifted apart for several years as life got in the way of the music.
Lead songwriters John Naismith and Billy Matthews (after whom the band is named – they are 364 days apart in age) got in touch in 2022 and found that they’d both kept writing. It didn’t take long before the concept for a new album, slated for 2025 release, was born, with fellow band members George Adams (vocals) and Andy Holmes (drums) joining the writing team.
Billy says “This is actually a new 2025 version of a track we originally recorded as Evangeline, and we think it particularly showcases George’s unique vocal. It also reminds us of our time on the road, which we don’t really miss!”
John added “It’s been really interesting approaching an old song from a new direction – apart from being better musicians than we were all those years ago it’s quite incredible how much recording technology has changed. The song is definitely better for the reworking”.
“Cowboy Song” will be available on all digital platforms and in both audio and video formats.
