Canadiana / alt-country duo April Moon stir up some prairie magic with their new EP ‘Forgiveness Juice’

Born and raised on the wide-open prairies of Saskatchewan, April Moon — unstoppable duo Jaime April and Jason Moon — are bottling up quirky, boot-stompin’ vibes and serving them with a wink on their new EP, Forgiveness Juice.

Bursting with hometown, rural charm and irresistibly catchy energy, this collection slides easily between sun-soaked indie folk anthem Long May We Roam, playful honky-tonk with Uptown Lady Life, and big, guitar-driven grooves with Echoville, all wrapped up in the duo’s unmistakable rootsy spirit.

Following the success of their self-released album The Other One Was You, Jaime and Jason returned to the studio — or rather, two studios in Liverpool — with support from a Help Musicians grant. It’s already making waves, with spins from BBC Introducing and Countryline Homegrown.

The party kicked off with a headline slot at Future Yard’s Americana All-Dayer in Birkenhead over the weekend, before APRIL MOON hits the road for an extended tour across the UK, Europe, and Canada. Get ready to raise a glass — this is one batch of Forgiveness Juice you’ll want to drink down.

The EP has been rolled out as a series of singles over the past year, culminating with Echoville, a song with lyrics by Jason’s friend and Liverpool poet, the late Edmund Hudson and a countrified, Johnny Cash-esque cover of Backstreet Boys I Want It That Way.

Growing up on the wild prairies beside Canada’s North Saskatchewan River, Jason and Jaime learned early that hitting the open road was a necessity to travel the vast distances between venues. They haven’t put down roots since, splitting their time between several countries and cruising from gig to gig in their beloved campervan, affectionately known as The Clubhouse.

APRIL MOON describe their genre as “Canadiana”—similar to Americana but with a northern twist and a prairie breeze. Their storytelling and lyrics are infused with homespun warmth and charm, crafting a vivid world that invites listeners to feel right at home.

Drawing inspiration from legends like the Carter Family, Ramblin’ Jack Elliott, Gram Parsons, and Dwight Yoakam, along with alt-country pioneers like Uncle Tupelo and Steve Earle, Jason and Jaime have also found a spark in today’s new wave of boundary-pushing artists like Sierra Ferrell, Tyler Childers, Nick Shoulders, and fellow Saskatchewan native Jake Vaadeland. ‘Forgiveness Juice’ fits perfectly into the resurging wave of Americana / alt-country music with a sound that is rootsy, radiant and ridiculously fun. APRIL MOON are here to keep the campfire burning—and the good times rolling.
