It Don’t Bother Me is the new (stand-alone) single by London based Americana singer-songwriter, Dave Sutherland: winner of UK Male Country Singer of the Year at the UK Country Music Awards 2024. It features Dave on vocals and guitar, Matt Percival on Bass, Martin Brown on Mandolin, Gunnar Frick on Organ, Paul Furnace on Electric Guitar, Toby Baron on Drums and Lowri Evans on Harmony Vocals.
The song is written by Dave and tells the story of a man assuring his ex-lover that their break up doesn’t bother him. In fact, he doesn’t care what happens to her. Although as the song goes on, we wonder if he protests too much!
Dave wrote the song a few years ago and had previously demoed it at Red Kite Studios with esteemed producer Martin Levan, producer of Dave’s last two singles and his 2008 album On The Waiting List. Dave convinced Martin to pull the track from the Red Kite archives and upon listening to it again, the song just jumped out of the speakers. With some updated vocals and the addition of Lowri Evans’s harmonies, the song was still missing something. Dave called in help from his oldest musical collaborator, Martin Brown, who nicely iced the cake with his trademark mandolin. Job done!
Dave has been treading the musical boards for 30 years, starting with an apprenticeship with Bert Jansch, who produced Dave’s first album. Three more albums followed alongside UK and US tours. In 2022, Dave released his fifth and latest album Last Drop of Empty. A commercial and critical success, it produced two Top 3 singles. It was also voted ‘Runner Up UK Americana Album 2022’ by the readers of Americana UK, reached the Top 25 of most played UK Roots albums across America, charted in the Euroamericana charts, was listed as ‘One To Watch’ on the Alt. Country Charts in America, and nominated for ‘UK Country Album of the Year’ at the UK Country Music Awards, where Dave was first awarded UK Male Country Singer of the Year. After 30 years, he became an overnight success.
