British outlaw country artist James Dunne releases his powerful new single titled ‘Black Train’

Critically acclaimed British outlaw country artist James Dunne releases his powerful new single titled ‘Black Train’.

Dunne is a rare modern-day talent who embodies the dark undertones of the writers and storytellers of the 1980s with his authentic style sitting in the darker sub-genre of outlaw country giving his sound a fantastic gritty backdrop that is laced with a raw truthfulness.

With ‘Black Train’ he continues to push the boundaries of British country and builds exquisitely off of the success of his 2022 release ‘Duty’ which was produced by the renowned Oz Craggs at Hidden Track Studios. Off the back of that single, James Dunne was invited to play BCMA Liverpool Country Music Festival, BCMA Fan Festival, Country on the Coast and Herofest (Help for Heroes)

He was also endorsed by HMV as an ‘Artist to Watch’ and now he is continuing on his uphill trajectory with the standout ‘Black Train’ that further showcases his soulful vocal, and intricate songwriting that is dripping in stark realism that lays his soul bare creating a striking dynamic that will strike a chord for many and inspire others to create an open dialogue too.

Speaking about the song, James Dunne says: “When I started writing for the follow up to Duty, it became apparent I had a lot of pain and frustration to get out that I never realised I had, or maybe just didn’t want to address as a man, a father, a partner, a working man and a veteran, all social roles that symbolise a strong person. There were dozens of songs that made it onto paper, which will remain a personal dumping ground for me but it took this period of honest self reflection to accept that no one is invincible”

There’s a power to this release: a man standing up and taking responsibility which ebbs and flows with the melody, whilst the production allows him to put the spotlight on his rich and gravelly vocal that adds layers to the strong message that is weaved throughout.

Celebrate the release of James’ EP at Dukes of Highgate, London on Saturday 20th May. James’ new single will also be featured in Maverick Magazine’s special Country2Country Addition.
