Following on from his critically acclaimed debut album “Where There’s Hope”, Martin Reynolds is back with his latest single, “Why Do I?”
Drawing on the influence of The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, and Neil Young, the Tamworth, UK based artist Reynolds has kicked off the self-produced confines of his debut album, praised by Counteract Magazine as a “tonic” for the uncertain post-Covid times it was produced during, and collaborated with his band, The Minor Detours, to give us a rollicking slice of rock ‘n’ roll introspection.
On the track, Reynolds says:
“It’s about putting others before yourself, and sometimes forgetting to look after your own wellbeing, and all the consequences that can come with it”.
“But as the lyrics say” … ‘It ain’t a break it’s a bruise, I take the rough with the smooth, I always thought life was a gift, that way I could never lose,’ it’s about knowing that whatever you may be going through, and however difficult it may be, everything is temporary, and it will pass, and knowing deep down I’m lucky to even have been given a shot at this thing called life”.
“Why Do I?” also features a special guest appearance by Jazz musician & composer Tom “Bones” Malone (The Blues Brothers, The Band, Paul McCartney, Miles Davis ) who brings his trademark trombone sound to the track.
The Minor Detours are Dan Craik (lead guitar) Nick Mills (double bass), and Sam Higgins (piano) with Martin Reynolds (vocals, guitar, drums and percussion).
The track was recorded, mixed and produced by Reynolds in Live Room 2 at Sinewave Studios, Tamworth, and mastered by Pete Maher (The Pixies, Jack White, Paul Weller, The Rolling Stones).
