
The highly anticipated single, ‘Easy’s Gettin’ Harder Every Day’, marks the second release of 2025 from John Jenkins and the James Street Band. This captivating rendition of the classic Iris DeMent song features lead vocals by Pippa Murdie, a valued band member known for her remarkable talent. Pippa has been performing this song for years, whether as a solo artist, in duo performances with John Jenkins, or as part of the band’s full ensemble.
This track will be part of John Jenkins and the James Street Band’s upcoming second album, set for release later this year. It follows the July 4th launch of Restless Hearts, John Jenkins’ eagerly awaited solo project.
Pippa Murdie, previously a mandolin player and backing vocalist for Storm the Palace, has collaborated with John Jenkins since 2019. In addition to her work with the band, she is a familiar face at open mic nights and acoustic clubs in the local music scene. Pippa’s accomplishments include being a finalist in the West Kirby Arts Centre Friday Live Songwriter Challenge 2024.
Co-produced by John Jenkins and Jon Lawton (Sami Yusuf, Ian Prowse, Only Child), and expertly mastered by Pete Maher (The Rolling Stones, U2, Patti Smith), ‘Easy’s Gettin’ Harder Every Day’ will be released on April 4th, 2025. This collaboration delivers a timeless performance with a modern touch, underscoring the band’s dynamic artistry and musical excellence.
