EDITORS CHOICE: Wood Burnt Red announce emotional New Single “Drifting”

UK-based country rock band Wood Burnt Red have announced their deeply personal new single, “Drifting,” set for release on 11th April 2025

“Drifting” is one of the hardest songs I’ve ever written,” shares the band’s lead singer, Tom Franklin. “It’s a very personal and emotional track for me, and every time I play it or hear it, it really hits me hard. That’s something I love about music—it has the power to move us in ways we can’t always explain. So as difficult as this song is for me to perform, I want the world to hear it.”

The song delves into the depths of depression—something the songwriter admits they had never fully understood until experiencing it firsthand a few years ago. “It hit me hard. It took me to some dark places, really dark places, and it saddens me greatly knowing that so many people suffer from this horrific mental illness, and so many go through it alone. I hope this track strikes a chord with some of those people, and hopefully, they feel ‘not so alone’—maybe even reach out to someone and talk about it.”

Produced by Tyler Spicer, “Drifting” is a hauntingly raw and heartfelt piece that showcases the band’s ability to fuse emotional storytelling with their signature country rock sound. The single follows the success of their previous releases and solidifies their reputation as one of the most compelling new acts on the UK country scene.

This weekend, Wood Burnt Red will take the stage at C2C Festival at The O2 in London, marking their most significant performance yet. As the UK’s largest country music festival, C2C has launched the careers of many renowned artists, and Wood Burnt Red’s debut on this prestigious platform is a milestone moment in their journey.
