Promising to be the UK’s next big country drinking song, “I Need A Drink” is already a fan favourite on the festival circuit, thanks to its rowdy chorus call-and-response.
Written from the perspective of a chaotic, down-on-his-luck character who refuses advice from his peers, “I Need A Drink” channels the rebellious spirit of outlaw country legends like Hank Williams Jr and modern trailblazers such as Zach Top.
Recorded in Nashville, “I Need A Drink” is the first taste of Owen’s neo-traditional country debut album, coming May 2026.
Owen says about the track, “this one’s wild. It’s about someone who’s got nothing figured out – and doesn’t care to fix it either. The crowds yelling ‘hell no!’ back to me this summer have made it one of the most fun songs to play live, so I knew I had to get that same rowdy spirit onto the record.”
About the Artist…
Born in northern England but raised on the sounds of the American south, Owen is quickly becoming a distinctive figure in the UK country scene. His voice, often likened to the raw tones of Zach Bryan or Sam Barber, carries a fierce edge reminiscent of Warren Zeiders or Bailey Zimmerman. This blend gives Owen the ability to offer his own unique take on country music that lingers long after the song ends. Wherever he performs, he brings the signature Liverpudlian warmth mixed with an electrifying energy that can turn heads and capture audiences. Since starting his music career in early 2024, Owen has already amassed over 400k Spotify streams and a rapidly growing fanbase of 2.7k followers on Instagram and TikTok. A seaman by day and ole’ troubadour by night, Owen is bridging the gap between the British and American country scenes alike – creating waves on both sides of the Atlantic.
