BBC Introducing “rising star” Announces New Country Blues-Fuelled Release “Over It”

Rugby-born, Belfast-based country-pop singer-songwriter Jessie May is back with her brand-new single “Over It”, out now across all streaming platforms.

Following the success of her first two singles, “Easily” and “It’s Always Been You”, Jessie May continues to build momentum as one of the UK’s most exciting new voices in country music. Both previous tracks debuted on BBC Introducing, with Jessie being named Artist of the Week twice on BBC Coventry & Warwickshire.

Currently in her final year studying English Literature with Creative Writing at Queen’s University, Belfast, Jessie May has been honing her storytelling craft since the age of 14. Her heartfelt lyricism and compelling stage presence have already led to standout live performances, including Godiva Festival, a headline show at Coventry’s HMV Empire, and forthcoming show supporting Gene Gallagher’s band Villanelle.

Over It marks a bold new step in Jessie May’s journey. A blues-infused country breakup anthem produced by First Time Flyers frontman Tim Prottey-Jones, the track is unapologetically defiant – an empowering goodbye song for anyone ready to move forward. With raw emotion and relatable storytelling at its heart, Jessie captures the universal feeling of closing one chapter and opening another.

Speaking about the single, Jessie says:

“Songwriting has always been a compulsion for me, not a choice. Over It is about reclaiming your power and finally saying goodbye for good. I hope people can find their own strength in it, the same way I did when writing it.”

From intimate wedding performances and festival stages to packed headline shows, Jessie May has built a reputation as a captivating live act. With her unique fusion of country and pop, authentic storytelling, and growing fanbase, she is quickly establishing herself as a rising force in the UK music scene.
