The new single ‘Stronger’ from Stoke-on-Trent based country band Chasing Twisters is an unapologetic country-pop love song. It first appeared on the band’s debut EP You’re Melting Me released in 2022. It has been a staple in the set since then and a popular track with line dancers with its no-nonsense country-pop beat. The band re-recorded the song for their 2025 album “Better In A Hat”, which has earned them a spot in the finalists for UK Country Album of the Year at the 2026 UK Country Music Awards.
Lead singer and bassist Laura wrote the song soon after forming Chasing Twisters with Craig Chapman in 2021. It was the first song she’d written in some time having taken a break from music to raise a family. What do you write about when life is good and you’re happily married with two children? Exactly that. Stronger tells the story of a relationship going from strength to strength, from butterflies on the first date and being swept off your feet by the man of your dreams, to becoming best friends, growing older together and enjoying everything life throws at you. Not every relationship stands the test of time, friends come and go but this song celebrates the person who stands by you through it all, whoever it may be.
It’s a simple, uplifting slice of country-pop with a big sing-along chorus, huge harmonies and an anthemic solo, building up and intertwining with the vocals, reinforcing the message of strength and love. The line “we drive your classic car through the mountains with the wind in our hair” is a favourite memory from a holiday road trip Laura and her husband took in his Alfa Romeo Spider. His car collection is still growing stronger too…
“I have my music and he has his cars, I guess that’s why we’re still going strong! Some of the cars appear in our music videos and photoshoots so it’s great when we can combine our interests!” says songwriter Laura Holden.
This is the 5th single to be released from the award nominated album “Better In A Hat”, which is available to download or stream from all online outlets, and on CD from www.chasingtwisters.co.uk. The band are also hoping for success in the British Country Music Awards, which is open now for public vote.
The band experienced a career highlight this summer when they performed on the Isle of Wight Festival’s first ever country stage, The Last Chance Saloon on Saturday 20th June. Experiencing a power cut just before their last song, the band kept the crowd singing and chanting until it came back on and were asked for more. Work on the band’s second album is due to start later in the year.
